PG Department of Computer Science and Applications
Introduction
The Department of Computer Science has been established in the academic year 1999 - 2000 to offer B.Sc. (Computer Science - co-education ) with sanctioned intake of 30 students, with the objective of imparting quality education in the field of Computer Science. Initially it is affiliated to Madras University. Now, it is affiliated to Thiruvalluvar University,Vellore. In the academic year 2006 - 2007 an additional section in B.Sc. Computer Science (Shift-II) was started for the need of rural area students . M.Sc. (Computer Science) was started in the year 2015 with sanctioned intake of 26 students. B.C.A (Computer Applications) was also started in the year 2015 with sanctioned intake of 30 students.
The Department imparts high quality training to students through the latest in Computer Technology. In order to maintain the quality and standard of education, the department is fully furnished with two laboratories consisting of 45 high configuration computers with specialized servers in each laboratory. Moreover, all the computers are fully connected in the LAN network.
The Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) is followed for both UG and PG programmes. There are six eminent regular Assistant Professors, four Guest Lecturers currently working in the computer science and three eminent regular Assistant Professors currently working in BCA. The faculty members also encouraged the students to participate and attend seminars, conferences and paper presentations conducted by various colleges and universities.
